About this blog

How far should you trust a birding blog from someone who spends less time birding than he does brushing his teeth? Only as far as you can throw it, I'd say. However, no one else, so far as I know, is tabulating the birds to be found in Somerville, Massachusetts. So if you can look past the inexpertise and the misplaced enthusiasms that are a feature of this blog, you'll find here an account of the birds that live in Somerville, or pass through -- some regularly, some very irregularly. I'm always happy to accept corrections where I've misidentified something, and happy as well to include birds that others have spotted here in Somerville.

As the most densely populated municipality in New England, Somerville is far from a birding paradise.  All the same, we do have birds here beyond pigeons, starlings, and house sparrows, and that's what this blog is about.
